So whose life is it anyway?
The
Segue Program is for you, the student, to benefit your future. It is a gift from your community. What you
do now, or don't do, will affect your life for many years. You know that.
The good news is that choices about what you do, now, are
yours to make.
So how are you going to choose to spend
your time, knowing
that you can benefit from your
choices? Spend your time to
support your own future or spend it
hanging out in leisure? Do both? Reconsider the balance of
how much you do in each?
This site
has great links to answer a lot of questions you may
haveabout your future
(see "Student links" at end of this note).
If
you also have Segue Speakers at your school, these giving
volunteers from your community will tell
you about their
personal paths to the
workplace. They'll share with you their
experiences so you can have the
advantage of what they've
already learned aboutthe
workplace.
It's
similar to how you might want to share your experiences
witha younger brother or
sister to help them do better. It's just
part of being a caring person.
If
you want more career speakers in your classes, you can help
make that happen. Just send this
website to people you meet
that you think have have an interesting
career. Maybe it's
people your parents know.
Consider inviting your parents. This
site will tell them how to sign
up (they click "Speakers").
